Israel has won several international Emmy awards and even a few Oscars but to date, the only Israeli actor or actress to win a major award (as far as I am aware) is Natalie Portman for best actress in Black Swan. And she hasn't lived in Israel since she was a baby. Now all that could change...

has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in Unorthodox. Check out her competition - which includes 3 Academy Award winners - as well as all the other nominated shows with Jewish themes (and Jewish actors/actresses) here...
Haas is currently filming season 3 of Shtisel which was actually filming in Jerusalem today. I received a message yesterday - apparently just a little bit too late - that they were looking for extras in my age range. Maybe somebody heard about my noted performance in season 1 of Srugim. Oh well, there is always next time.... Lucky for you though, I'm still an Israel tour guide and not a famous actor :).
