A number of new Jewish movies (whether Jewish-themed or about Jews) and miniseries are in the works and I could not be more excited to see them.
Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman herself, will be playing Hedy Lamarr in an eight episode miniseries. Besides being a famous Hollywood actress, Lamarr was an incredible inventor, including creating what is the basis for WIFI technology. Seth Rogen will be starring in An American Pickle which is due to be released by HBO Max in August. Perhaps even more far-fetched than the pickle story is that a remake is going to be made of none other than Fiddler on the Roof. At least the director is Thomas Kail, who directed Lin Manuel Miranda's shows In The Heights and Hamilton (as well as the upcoming movie version of Hamilton). Hamilton himself, the founding father without a father, may likely have been a Jew (assuming his mother converted when marrying her previous husband, a Danish Jew). At the least we know that he attended Jewish school, spoke Hebrew and defended Jewish causes and religious liberty.
