Tokyo 2021 has already become Israel's most successful Olympics in history and there is still more to go. On Sunday, the big news was that Artem Dolgopyat won Israel's second-ever gold medal (following windsurfer Gal Fridman's victory in 2004), this time in the men's floor exercises in artistic gymnastics. Now Israel can add their second-ever gold medal with Dolgopyat's masterful performance. That being said, his qualifying round was even better and he thought he had choked in the finals, but apparently everyone's nerves got the best of them in the competitions and he just managed to squeak out the win. Meanwhile, the Israel baseball team is still alive after a big 12-5 win over Mexico today (photo by AP/Matt Slocum). The Israeli team will need to defeat South Korea (the defending Olympic champions) early on Monday in another "win or go home" game in order to advance to the semi-finals. And Selamawit Teferi, set an Israeli record in the women's 5000m, running 14:53.43, and in doing so made it to the final of the event on Monday. Otherwise, we just missed medals in judo, men's and women's windsurfing and the triple-jump. We also made two finals in swimming, which equals our output in all previous Olympics combined.
