Over the last 5 years the incredible street artist Solomon Souza has turned Jerusalem's famed Machane Yehuda food market into his own personal canvas. At night, when all the stalls close, he paints the shutters with portraits of famous people, biblical scenes, stall owners - or their relatives or products and more.
During this past week, your faithful tour guide of Israel went on a mission to identify and map as many of the portraits and scenes as possible in order to create a brand-new scavenger hunt game which can be played in the market at night and over Shabbat. With the help of some fellow Israel tour guides we identified 72 different paintings (out of the approximately 150 in existence) as well as another 20 which have been lost to time.
