Earlier this week, Israel's first-ever flight to the United Arab Emirates landed in Abu Dhabi. It was indeed a momentous occasion, in that not only did it signify the beginning of what will hopefully be a warm peace between Israel and an Arab country, but also in that Saudi Arabia allowed Israel to use its airspace for the first time in history. The plane carried Israeli and US diplomats who were meeting with their counterparts in the UAE to begin the process of setting up official relationships, including exchanging embassies.
